It was on this date in 1892, that the maid at the Borden home in Fall River Massachusetts was suddenly called to help the Homeowner’s Spinster Daughter Lizzie Borden, who claimed to have “discovered” her father Andrew Borden brutally murdered with an axe. Very shortly thereafter, mother Abby Borden was found in the same condition. Lizzie Borden was tried and Acquitted for the Axe Murder, but nobody else was ever suspected for the crime…and the general opinion of history is that she did it. Wasn’t 40 whacks though. One or two in each case. On this date in 1958 the Bible of the Recording and Radio Industry, Billboard Magazine instituted the Hot 100, which was and remains the 100 most popular records in the country based on a carefully calculated formula that includes radio airplay and sales. The first Hot 100 had Ricky Nelson at number one with “Poor Little Fool.”
